A well constructed and focused CV which has impact and is professionally presented will open doors, help you to obtain meetings and interviews, and as important to control those interviews.

Writing a CV is not easy and it does take time.

A good CV will cover these points:

  1. A CV must be effective. Effectiveness is all about doing the right things, which means your CV must produce the right results (an interview!). If it doesn’t then there is something wrong.
  2. Your CV must be clear, concise and easy to read. Interviewers receive many applications for jobs and any that take effort to read will not be looked on favourably.
  3. Make your CV interesting and highlight the important points and achievements. Would you choose to interview someone who has produced a boring CV that doesn’t even manage to draw attention to key achievements?
  4. Use short sentences, ensure the English is grammatically correct and of a good standard and there must be NO spelling errors. Short sentences keep things precise and simple. Spelling and grammar errors show a lack of care.
  5. Accuracy, layout and legibility – as well as content and style – are critical. Faced with many CVs to review, these elements can help a CV be selected and then for expectations to be met at interview.
