CV Management

Writing a great CV is much easier if you manage your CV. Just like you manage your personal development (you do, don’t you!), look at your CV and identify areas for improvement and then develop those areas.

cv managementOne great tip to build a better CV is to think ahead. Read through some newspapers or search online job sites and find an advert for a job that you would like to be doing in five years time. Ask yourself these questions:

  • What skills and strengths do you already have that meet the job specification?
  • What skills and strengths do you need to develop?
  • How could you develop those skills?
  • What will you do first?

Start by identifying a specific action you could take – it may be as simple as enrolling on a course (currently studying towards is more powerful than nothing!). It may take a little more creative thinking – for example, if you need leadership skills, then what can you do in your leisure time to demonstrate them (and yes, managing the local kids’ football team does count).

A professional CV writing service can help you to identify the gaps in your CV and also offer advice on writing a CV that plugs the gaps.
