The Best Type of CV for You

When you write your CV do you automatically write it as a career history, based on date? This type of CV is known as a chronological CV and for many people it is the best CV for the job. However for some people, a chronological CV can cause problems.

CV for a Portfolio Career

What if you have a portfolio career – the chronological CV won’t help to explain why you seem to have many different jobs and many different achievements all at the same time and many earlier career achievements or jobs may be less relevant anyway. It’s a common problem.

Small Business Owner

What if you’ve been running a small business – and like so many small business owners you’ve had to take paid employment too whilst building up your business and then someone asks to see your CV. Writing a CV to explain the circumstances isn’t easy if you choose the wrong type of CV.

A Different Type of CV

Fortunately there is more than one type of CV and here at Gateway we know the difference between what’s acceptable and what’s an unusual idea that won’t help gain an interview.
